How much would it be to sell music on my site?

    Hi, I have a blog and am considering upgrading to sell music (i am a singer/songwriter) on my site. Which plan would I need to be able to sell music that people could pay for and download? It only needs to be a simple page to sell tracks but I couldn’t work out which plan I would need. Thanks!

    Hi there,

    It would be possible to set up a simple ecommerce store using our Payments Block, as explained here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/payments/

    This block will allow you to accept payments via Stripe and offer products as digital downloads. You would use one block per product, and you can arrange several of these blocks on a page to create a simple “shop page” on your site.

    It’s not possible to use the Payments Block with free WordPress.com sites, but you do have that option by upgrading to any of the plans you see listed here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    Thank you. So a £3 personal plan would be able to cover this, as an initial beginning with the ability to sell music for people to download?
    Also, while upgrading, could i also change the name of the site to my name in some form, if that is available?

    Yes, that is correct.

    Hi, I am working on setting this up, but Stripe said I need to set up an individual rather than a business account with them because I am not legally registered as a business in the UK as I have only sold a small amount of music. Can I still link a Stripe individual account to a payment button? Thanks!

    Hi there,

    I checked our documentation, and I can’t find any mention that you specifically need a Stripe business account to use it, and may of our users of this feature are individuals, not businesses. So you should be able to link it to your personal account, yes :)
