How not to display all posts entirely

  This must be a pretty simple question, but I’m still something of a newbie and I just can’t find the right screw to turn. I don’t even know how to properly phrase the question, here’s an attempt:

  How do you configure WP (here the theme is mystique) in such a way that it does not show all the posts on the main page, but only headers / teasers of older posts?

  You can use the read more tag to shorten posts.
