How not to display child posts in parent category?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello Forum,

I created few parent categories and assigned few sub-categories to them. The post which I inserted in the child category also shows in parent one. Is there any way to turn that off, so the post that have been assigned to child category shows only there?
Also, I noticed that for some reason a copy of each post is going into the Default Post Category although it has not been ticked when assigning the destination of the post.

I am a web noobie so, please, please respond in basic terms.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Frustrated.

    Auxclass,

My website is a work in progress.
I now tried to paste the information I had in categories into the pages and sub- pages (I am trying to create some sort of hierarchy, but as it is a uni project it has to be a very clear structure with the hierarchy preferably showing in the header or eventually in a side bar), planning to get rid of the categories bar all together.

Now, you can’t see that there is a subcategory at all- the side bar widget ‘Pages’ doesn’t show when you are on the page, it only shows when you click on one of the categories (mind you, my idea was to get rid of the categories completely).
How are you supposed to see the structure, that there are some sub-pages assigned to pages? I need the structure to show ideally on top (header) or eventually in a side bar.

Thanks a lot again for all your help. It’s greatly appreciated!

Well, the blog is now private so we can’t really help, except if you give us very detailed instructions. Otherwise, the following articles may be helpful:
