How on earth do I buy credits on Paypal?
-
I’d like to get my own domain and hosting for my wordpress.com blog from yourselves.
I understand you do this via paypal…but how?!
I’ve spent an hour trying to find out, I’ve read through quite a few FAQ pages and the forum but no joy.
I’ve got a paypal account and I’m happy to spend the money but I can see a link anywhere. The links from the upgrades page aren’t relevant to what I what to do.Any help much appreciated.

As you go through the process to add an upgrade, you’ll be prompted to purchase credits when it’s the right time. It can’t be done before they are needed.
If you want to add a domain, go to Upgrades->Domains on the left menu and start adding the domain.

This is a horrible process. I too have spent my entire afternoon trying to figure out how to buy credits. WordPress needs to make this easier.

Thanks for your reply mtdewvirus, but…
I agree with btschida is VERY confusing, I’m a web designer and I got lost!
Linking to a 2 year old article on the Domain page doesn’t cut it I’m afraid.According to the FAQ’s (this info should be on the domains page)…
“Simply login to your WordPress.com Dashboard, click on Settings > Domains and enter the domain you wish to purchase in the box. If the domain is available, it will allow you to purchase it and map it to your WordPress.com blog”….
After many a frustrating failure I figured out that you can’t have a .co.uk domain. Eureka! Quite U.S. centric I must say. This should be pointed out on the Domains page, the FAQ’s page or the very least the error message which type of Domains can be purchased.
I think you should run some user journeys for registering a Domain as it’s hard work and I believe you’ll be losing quite a bit of money.
-
David, thank you for your information.
Do you know if it is possible to get a “.cat” domain? -
It is possible to map it to your WordPress.com but I’m afraid you can’t register it through us – you’ll need to register your .cat domain elsewhere and then point the nameservers to WordPress.com as per the FAQ.
-
Silly process. I should be able to go purchase credits as I want…then apply them when necessary.
-
I too am frustrated and have spent over and hour trying to find out how to purchase credits. By chance I found this post and now understand…..I shouldn’t have to do this. This should be explained RIGHT ON THE PAGE!!!!!!!

Whats the dealio?
For such a good system (wordpress.com) they make it especially difficult to give them money. First rule in business – make it really easy for customers to give you $
Why can’t I purchase credits and then spend them as and when I like? Why bother having credits at all? Why not just “charge $10 to my Pay Pal” for a 10 credit service?
How come I can gift credits to another user but not purchase them myself???? Way too weird….
Why do i have to make 5 transactions to enable 5 different credit services?
I’ve been using WordPress.com since the beginning and this is the only place I have seen them fall down…. Credit system seems like a poorly thought out system. I’d fire the designers who “designed” this section.

Huge issue for a company when a customer wants to GIVE THEM MONEY and you can’t figure how where do to it. You should be able to add credits to your account anytime, not have to go through domain mapping to do it. And if, in fact, you can do that, would you please enlighten your paying customers?
GEEZE!
-
I agree! Buying credits needs to be totally independent from what you are spending them on! Otherwise, lose the whole “credits” notation. Just say “Pay $20 for this”.
Besides: How much are these credits? I have no idea! I need ten of them for a domain. Is that $10? or is it $10 per credit, or what?
Making me first go through all the DNS stuff, BEFORE I can determine whether the price is right (since I have no idea how much “ten credits” cost) is ridiculous.. what if it turns out to be too expensive for me? I did all the DNS work for nothing..

Has anyone came up with a solution to this yet? I have been trying this frustrating process the better part of my day. I added credits through the “gifting credits.” It says I have the credits to map the domain but is not allowing me to apply them…I really just want to give this company my money and use this service….arrggghh!

I completely agree that this is one of the most frustrating things about wordpress. I figured it out for using GoDaddy… Hope this helps.
Click “domains” on your dashboard then put in the url you already own and want to redirect to. It won’t let you, because you don’t have the credits, but it gives you 3 nameservers on that page.
Go to Godaddy and put in the 3 nameservers in your domain control center.
Come back to “domains” on your dashboard and try putting the URL in again. It will then bring you to a different page that prompts you to purchase the credits and goes smoothly from there.
Phew! What a horrible system.
I also found this post helpful. Good luck.

Two hours trying to find how to use my domain. Really bad explained and after realising I have to pay for using my own domain in this place, I spent so much time trying to find the proper info about how to buy credits…
I’m really dissapointed, if you want me to pay for that “service”, why don’t you make it easier? It’s too confusing.

This process has been goofy like this forever…you’d think it would have been fixed by now!

According to another topic (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/is-there-way-to-buy-credits-without-paypal?replies=3), the only way for you to buy credit if your country isn’t supported by PayPal is: “If you know someone else with a PayPal account, you can pay them, have them buy the credits and then they can Gift you credits from Upgrades->Gifts.”… Pathetic. I just got a domain I can’t even use now.
Is anyone willing to do this for me?

I have a .pt domain, and i’m not being able to redirect to wordpress. My domain master asks for wordpresse’s primary IP and DNS, I have entered:
72.232.101.25
ns1.wordpress.com
Is this correct? It’s just that WordPress says it’s not sure my domain is redirecting here, and it wont let me buy credits to test it…

I would love not to have to use Paypal to pay. Is there any other alternative system that could be instituted for payments?
-
I have a domain, I go to add it. WP says I have 0 credits I need 10 but no link or option to buy. I am not seeing the answer above either. Help please?
