How recover lost comments

Lost three (3) of four site comments. Looked in trash, but can’t find them. How can I retrieve them?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
I’m happy to see if we can find them. Do you know which posts or pages folks had commented on? Have you checked the Spam folder for them? Have you deleted any posts or pages recently?
Thanks for your patience and for using WordPress.com!

Thanks.
Appreciate the input.
Not sure which pages were taking the original comments, so can’t answer your question accurately.
I was able to find one of the “disappeared” comments (accidentally) when I noticed a message (still in my inbox) from First Aero Squadron, and it turned out to be the comment from a lady in California wanting my approval, etc. So, using it again, was able to reconstruct it and put it back up.
But, on the others, I figured there must be a “spam” or trash folder somewhere, just couldn’t figure out where it – or they – might be located?
I’d suspect I must have inadvertently deleted the missing comments, but certainly not intentionally. I’d have no reason to do that, since there were so few of them and was very happy to have them posted.Am having some other problems, too, but they’re related to how to do certain things in developing/editing the site, rather than critical glitches such as the one in this topic.
I’ll see if I can’t find the “trash” barrels for those missing items, since can’t find them under my inbox, as I did the one I mentioned above.
Since I’m really not very adept at this operation, if I “delete” anything at all, I don’t do it before making a copy and storing it off site on one of my own computers – just in case.I’ll let you know if I can find any of the “spam” folders you mentioned.

Howdy again Ric,
For the comments, if you visit https://firstaerosquadron.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php , along the top are links for “All”, “Pending”, “Spam”, “Trash”. Both Trash and Spam folders are auto-deleted after 30 days.
With the spam comments—looks like nearly 400 on there—please do not “unspam” any comments unless they are truly not spam. All of the times users spam or unspam comments are factored into the algorithms that help filter spam out, so “green-flagging” a spam comment causes similar spam to show up on everyone’s blogs, etc.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks, again. I had seen those folders along the top, but opened the “Trash” and found it, indeed, had zero contents, so figured there must be another trash I was missing, since I know the missing “comments” I experienced had to be around – somewhere. Yet there was nothing in that particular folder – nada. Since the items weren’t there, but it had only happened a few weeks ago – not yet 30 days – so figured they must be somewhere? I’ve not marked anything as “spam,” so knew they wouldn’t be hiding in that folder, either. So am stumped as to where they might be? As I said, I did accidentally find one of the missing comments in an email notification from the WordPress FASF site re the comments, so that’s how I was able to restore that particular one. But the other one (and my reply to it) I still can’t find.

Hi Ric,
I’m not aware of another place they would be, unless they were deleted and the “empty trash” button was clicked. I’m going to send you an e-mail; if you could respond back with the comment notification e-mail that you used to restore that one comment, I’ll see if I can investigate further.
Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks again for the reply. I just accidentally found the original email notification, entitled: “[First Aero Squadron Foundation] Please moderate: ” that enabled the uploading, after approval, of the comment involved that I haven’t been able to locate anywhere on the site after it suddenly disappeared. I had, fortunately, put the email in a special folder on my email client I’d labeled as “Blog – New Items Notices”, which is a sub-folder under my email client’s “FASF Website Information” main folder. I just went thru the routine to put the quote back on the site, but had I now kept the original email notice from WordPress separately, I’d be out of luck, since, as I said, can’t find anywhere any trash contents including the disappeared comments, and I sure never personally emptied any of the WordPress trash contents – guaranteed. So, although I never located the “disappeared” comments anywhere on the site or in its Dashboard, at least was able to find the originals in the WordPress email notification. Whew!I have some other serious issues and wonder if you could help me out?
What’s the best way to notify you of them?ric lambart

Hi Ric,
Could you respond to the e-mail that I sent to the e-mail address on file with a copy of that notification e-mail, changing out the subject line for the one from my e-mail? I’d like to investigate further.
You can respond to this thread or submit a new one at http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ for your other issues.
Have a great weekend!
