  There is no way to delete your account. You can, however, deactivate your account using these instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

  This is to prevent impersonation by anyone registering and using your same username in the future.

  Automattic, which offers WordPress.com, also offers many other products and services listed at https://automattic.com/ that require a WordPress.com account. This is another reason why WordPress.com accounts can’t be deleted.
