how revert the redirect of my self hosted wordpress.com account?
-
When I try to log in (thetruefootball.com/wp-login.php) to my self hosted wordpress account it redirects to my wordpress.com account and so i cannot login. It’s an endless cycle.
Blog url: http://thetruefooty.wordpress.com/ -
That definitely shouldn’t be happening.
Can you please try clearing your browser’s cookies and cache?
-
Cleared and still not functioning. The response I get when I try to login to [thetruefootball.com/wp-login.php] is this:
“You attempted to login with the email or username ‘admin’ on WordPress.com. If you were trying to access your self hosted WordPress.org blog, try yourdomain.com/wp-admin/. If you can’t remember your WordPress.com email or username, you can reset your password by providing your email address. If you have any questions please contact support.”
The URL also changes to [http://thetruefooty.wordpress.com/wp-login.php]. I believe I have mistakingly redirected the site to the old wordpress.com login.
-
Did you just recently point thetruefootball.com to a different hosting provider? If so, how long ago was that?
-
I did, about two weeks ago, to Dreamhost using wordpress.org. But the problem didn’t commence until I accidentally redirected the URL.
-
If you just recently redirected your domain, it can take up to 72 hours for the change to propagate to your ISP’s DNS servers.
Unfortunately, we have no control over that, as it all depends on how often your ISP refreshes their DNS cache.

It looks like you purchased the Domain Mapping upgrade rather than the Site Redirect upgrade. Are you trying to use thetruefootball.com with your WordPress.com site or would you like to redirect traffic from thetruefooty.wordpress.com to thetruefootball.com?
If you’d like to map thetruefootball.com, you’ll want to change your domain name servers to point to WordPress.com:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/If you want to point your WordPress.com site to your self-hosted site, you’ll want the Site Redirect upgrade instead:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/site-redirect/ -
Ok, I’ve managed to redirect my my WordPress.com site, however, I still cannot sign in to my WordPress.org site. Which is the original problem.
-
Are you trying to use a self-hosted site with that domain name? Or do you want your site hosted on WordPress.com?
Depending on which you’d prefer, you may need to choose a different upgrade.
-
I would like to use thetruefootball.com, self-hosted.
When I try to sign in to [thetruefootball.com/wp-login.php] it redirects my to wordpress.org with the message:
“You attempted to login with the email or username ‘admin’ on WordPress.com. If you were trying to access your self hosted WordPress.org blog, try yourdomain.com/wp-admin/. If you can’t remember your WordPress.com email or username, you can reset your password by providing your email address. If you have any questions please contact support.”
I can’t log in to purchase any upgrade.

There’s definitely nothing on our end to direct your blog to us.
The only other thing that I’d try is a different browser to rule-out a browser specific issue.
If that doesn’t work, I recommend contacting http://wordpress.org/support/ as the issue is definitely on that end.
