How should my blog apear in search engines?

I’ve had my blog in place for about a week now, but when I do searches at Google, it never shows up in the results. In my blog’s privacy settings, I’m allowing it to be visible to everyone. So, is there anything else I need do?

If it’s http://www.spikesoft.net to which you refer then that’s not a wordpress.com blog and we provide support only for wordpress.com blogs. We cannot help you here. The correct forum for self hosting bloggers is exactly where the support blog pointed you to -> http://wordpress.org/support/

I have found that if you can link to your blog site from another site such as
a forum, site like flickr, you will start getting traffic and google will find you.You need to get some inbound links from other blogs, ones that are already popular.
Recently I have started to use ebay as a way of getting inbound traffic through putting up an advert for a product or service and then linking it to your blog.
If you have any youtube videos that you could use to link into your blog as well.
Look for ways of creating one way links.
