How the hell do I turn-off Akismet?!
-
As many other people have ranted, Akismet is on overdrive on my web journal. There was a time when I could remove the widget, but I do not even see that option. I was being patient; checking comments daily, so that I could catch and screen them, but that’s for naught now. How do I turn this off? It has eaten at least 15 comments, a few of which might have been interesting.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

At wordpress.COM, there is no way to turn off Akismet. On self-hosted blogs, you can disable it, but not here.

But it doesn’t “eat” a comment until after it’s been withheld for two weeks. If you are “patient” and “check comments daily”, I think checking your spam for the occasional genuine comment is better and less effort than having to put up with and delete all the spam you’d get without Akismet.
And I don’t share your opinion of it. In my tips blog, Akismet has caught 495 spam comments so far; only 2 spam comments escaped it, and only 1 comment was caught although it wasn’t spam (and that was because of the number of links I have set as the no-pass limit).

You’re in the wrong forum and need to be over at WordPress.ORG for help on turning off akismet. Good luck dealing with the spam once you do.

@rain: He’s probably talking about http://wrightswords.wordpress.com/ (there’s a tab for it in the site linked to his nick).

Ah, as I’ve said before, I’m too lazy to go looking. If they give me a link and it goes offsite, they have to hand it to me directly.
Besides, if he wants to turn of Aksimet, it’s not possible on that blog, so he IS in the wrong forum for learning how to do that.
