i am having trouble adding abowman gadgets.i have been searching for 4 hours and nothing cames up. i saw WordPress blog have these gadgets and i don’t know how to add them. ANY help will be greatly appreciated! Please reply if you can!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First of all, what are they? Second, what is the code they use? Paste it here between backticks so it displays properly. Third, where are you trying to add them? Fourth, which WP.com blogs have you seen using them?
-
Those use code (flash) that isn’t allowed here due to security concerns.
-
You know, I’m not sure how they got that to work. The source code reveals that it is from widgets.clearspring.com , not from abowman gadgets. I’ve never worked with anything from clearspring so I have no idea how they did it. Typically the script will always be stripped out by the wordpress software.
The other thing that might possibly work would be gigya. Panos is the expert on using gigya here.
Hopefully he will stop by and see this thread.
You coud also contact that blogger and ask them how they got it to work.

Here is an example Abowman code:
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" style="outline:none;" data="http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/112581010116074801021/fish.swf?" width="300" height="200"><param name="movie" value="http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/112581010116074801021/fish.swf?"></param><param name="AllowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><param name="wmode" value="opaque"></param><param name="scale" value="noscale"/><param name="salign" value="tl"/></object>' It is a Flash code and I tried to embed it in a post by using a modified code:[gigya type="application/x-shockwave-flash" style="outline:none;" src="http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/112581010116074801021/fish.swf?" width="300" height="200"]‘
And it worked.
If you put the code of your Abowman widget, then someone will be able to figure out how to modify it for wordpress.com.
psst: I learned the trick from Panos too! :D

@skyblue456,
Seriously, if you do not put the code here for us to examine it, it’s hard to say what you are doing wrong. -
Hello,
You also may register @ vodpod & then post this code
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" style="outline:none;" data="http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/112581010116074801021/fish.swf?" width="300" height="200"><param name="movie" value="http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/112581010116074801021/fish.swf?"></param><param name="AllowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><param name="wmode" value="opaque"></param><param name="scale" value="noscale"/><param name="salign" value="tl"/></object>
@ http://vodpod.com/savevideo/popup?
Then on your vodpod account, clic on the image, and then edit
Pick up the number that you see into the addres bar. That’s the ID of the “video”
Then place the video onto your blog, using this code
[vodpod id=Video.ID_OF_THE_VIDEO&w=425&h=350]
more instructions here

tell me Where you have to put the code
-
You don’t put that code anywhere, because it’s not allowed in wp.com. You have to transform it into a wp-specific shortcode:
[gigya src="http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/112581010116074801021/fish.swf" width="300" height="200" wmode="opaque" ]
You paste the shortcode in the HTML post or page editor, or in a text widget if you want the gadget in your sidebar. Dimensions can be changed.Note that the gadget page includes an “edit settings” tab: you can change the number of fish, their color etc. If you do that, the code will include a string of variables after the question mark. In that case the shortcode should be:
[gigya src="http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/112581010116074801021/fish.swf" width="300" height="200" wmode="opaque" flashvars="STRING OF VARIABLES HERE" ]For more on this, see here:
