how to access dashboard and content after transferring site to squarespace?
-
Hello, I recently switched my wordpress site (www.sarahrawlins.com) to a squarespace site (my domain is with start logic). Now I am trying to access my wordpress website dashboard so as to export my wordpress content into my new site on squarespace however I am unable to access my dashboard as it just keeps taking me to my new squarespace site. Additionally, it seems that my jetpack was outdated and that I am needing to make a few updates which could be another part of the problem, however, when I click on the update button it too simply redirects me to the squarespace site. Any pointers or tricks on how to access my original website content?
Thanks so much!

What is the underlying WordPress.com URL of the form whatever.wordpress.com of your site? Can you not log in at http://YourSite.wordpress.com/wp-admin?
-
when I use the http://YourSite.wordpress.com/wp-admin URL it simply redirects me to my squarespace site, now that I have re-mapped my site domain (Start logic) from wordpress to squarespace. As for the underlying WordPress.com URL, I thought it was just http://www.sarahrawlins.com or http://www.sarahrawlins.com/wp-admin. This is always what I used before to access the website.
-
What I think I need is the original custom wordpress domain first given to me when I opened up my site. However, I am not sure where to find this.
-
If you can’t find it, we can’t really help you. Would it not be http://rawlis.wordpress.com/? You are logged in to that already.
-
Hmm. Well, when I go to rawlis.wordpress.com it says that the site has been disabled. So, there is no way to find out what the original custom wordpress domain is that I was given? or if it is in fact the rawlis.wordpress.com domain, there is no way to reactivate it or to back track, go back to my start logic control panel and try to undo my domain mapping so as to be able to access the original content on my wordpress website??

HI there,
You can access your WordPress.com site’s Dashboard here:
https://sarahmrawlins.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Thanks Grace.
Actually, the URL you gave me is for an old wordpress blog that I have, however it is not for my original wordpress website. Kind of confusing. My website which has the address of http://www.sarahrawlins.com is the one which has the domain registered under start logic and is the site which I recently re-mapped and forwarded onto Squarespace. This is the site that I am unable to access the dashboard for, etc. and the site for which I am hoping I have not lost all of my content.

Hi there,
Please note that sarahrawlins.com is a domain, not your actual WordPress.com site. It may have been pointing to it, but it is not where all your contents are stored. Please note that a domain name is a name used to identify a particular website on the internet. Your site’s domain name is like your mailing address.
Your domain exists independently of your site, so even if you cancel your domain, all the content on your site remains unchanged. Therefore, if anything were to happen to your domain (for e.g. you forget to renew it), you can still find all your content at https://sarahmrawlins.wordpress.com.
You can find more information about domains here.
Since you now mapped that domain to your Squarespace site, you will now find all your Squarespace content there. However, all your WordPress.com content can be found at sarahmrawlins.wordpress.com.
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Hi Grace,
Thanks for clarifying. The only problem is that my issue still exists. Perhaps I am being stupid or maybe not explaining my problem clearly.
So, here is my problem: I go to the site http://www.sarahmrawlins.wordpress.com and it takes me to my blog ‘Mon Cherie Ayiti’. From there I can access my dashboard for that specific blog and yes, all of my content is there. However, this is not the blog for which I need to access content. So, from there,I go to my dashboard and click on ‘my sites’ and there are two options. My blog, ‘Mon Cherie Ayiti’ and my website ‘Bartimaeus Boldness’. I click on Bartimaeus Boldness and then click on the dashboard for that site and it redirects me to the new squarespace platform but I’m not actually able to go to the dashboard for that site. Does this make sense? All of the content that I am able to access from http://www.sarahmrawlins.wordpress.com is for my old blog not for my website. It’s almost as if the dashboard no longer exists which kind of makes sense since I switched to square space for my new editing/layout platform. Again, since the blog is not a problem, I was able to successfully import all of my old blog content to my new square space site, but the website which was current and where I had a large amount of content is what I am unable to import, says ‘site no longer exists’, etc. Let me know if this makes sense.
Thanks again for your assistance! -
You need to contact Square space support http://help.squarespace.com/ because we cannot help you with this site at all http://www.sarahrawlins.com/

Hi there,
The site Grace mentioned at sarahmrawlins.wordpress.com is the only one hosted here at WordPress.com. However, I see that you also had a self-hosted WordPress site using the domain http://www.sarahrawlins.com.
That self-hosted site wasn’t hosted here at WordPress.com, so we don’t have access to any of the content that was hosted there. You’ll need to contact the hosting provider for that specific website to regain access to that content.
Please let me know if you have any other questions about that!

I am having exactly the same problem. I am able to log into my wordpress account, after a LOT of digging around and requesting a new password for some reason (it was saved in roboform and always worked before). So, now I’m logged in, and there’s a link that says “go to admin dashboard” because after logging in it brought me to a “My Sites” option. I click the admin dashboard link, and I’m back at Squarespace.

Hi rwaldrondesigns,
You’re seeing the site waldrondesigns.com/news/ in your WordPress.com account because it used to be a self-hosted WordPress site linked to WordPress.com via Jetpack. Whenever you have a self-hosted WordPress site, the site’s contents (and the dashboard) are located at your website host even if Jetpack is connecting the site to your WordPress.com account. (That’s different from sites hosted at WordPress.com, which can continue to be accessed at a free WordPress.com address even after the domain expires or is moved to a new host.)
Now that your domain points to Squarespace, you’ll need to log in to Squarespace to manage the site. If you’re looking for the old content of your site, you’ll need to contact your previous website host about that.
Since that domain is no longer using WordPress and Jetpack, if you’d like I can remove the old connection to your WordPress.com account so it doesn’t show up there anymore.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
