How to access the old old blog site

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a very old WordPress blog site which is working until 2019. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to login. When I login using my original user ID and password, it stated the site is locked and I need to change the password for the new security. However, the email supposedly sent never arrive. My email address hasn’t change. I did create a new login so that I can post this question. My old user ID is watson58 and the site is https://watson58.wordpress.com/

Can anyone suggest how I can move my blogs to my new site (without the obvious create/copy/and paste)?

Any help from staff/admin is greatly appreciated.

  • Hi there,

We are not able to help here in the support forums, as verifying account ownership requires us to ask you to provide info that is best not shared in this public venue.

With this in mind, please fill out this form here to the best of your ability: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

This will send all the info you have to our account recovery team, and from there they will contact you directly to assist you in regaining access to the account that owns the site you are trying to access.

Note: If you do not have the proofs asked for in that form, you can choose the Transaction ID and enter a random string of numbers to allow you to send the form.

    Thanks Jerry…
While I can provide original email and password, I no longer have the activation email from 10 years ago. When I entered random numbers in “transaction ID” as suggested (I entered my phone number), I received a message stating “The receipt does not appear to be valid.”, is there a specific number of digit which I should put in transaction ID? Thanks for all your help.

  • Hello Raoul,

is there a specific number of digit which I should put in transaction ID?

Yes, so a transaction ID can be found on a bank statement if a purchase was made with WordPress.com.

This guid here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/#retrieving-a-transaction-id what a transaction ID looks like and how to locate that.

    I hope this is useful.

I am still not able to use the recovery site since I don’t have the original email from many years ago with a transaction ID. Is there any other way I can get help? I can verify ownership in many different ways such as email, phone number, etc.

Please send an email to passwordhelp (at) wordpress (dot) com from the email address tied to the account you’re trying to access explaining the situation, and we’ll see if there’s anything we can do for you.

    Thanks.
