    Hi there, I’d recommend against editing the theme directly: not only is that a method prone to mistakes, but the changes could be lost with updates. So if you really must edit the header or footer, I’d recommend creating a child theme instead.

    That said, in many cases we can recommend an alternative to actually changing the theme / creating a child theme. If you’ll let us know what you’re hoping to do, we can point you in the best direction.
