How to add a banner to the sidebar of my blog
-
Any help is greatly appreciated.
All I’m trying to do is add the Gawker Artists banner to the sidebar of my blog here: http://thehustling.com/
Gawker gave me the code:
<img src=”http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/gm.gawkerartists/;sz=160×600;ord=[timestamp]?” width=”160″ height=”600″ border=”0″ alt=”Gawker Artists”>Does anyone know how to do this? I’ve been reading these and other forums for two hours and can’t find anything. I either need to change themes, or purchase an upgrade?? I don’t see how that’s possible since I can add the banner as a post, just not in the side bar.
Thanks!

I answered you in the other thread you posted. YOU CANNOT AT THIS TIME ADVERTISE ON WORDPRESS.COM.

Thank you. But to clarify, this isn’t an ad per se. It’s a link to an artist page. Check http://consumerist.com/ to view it. It’s on the left. Is this really considered and “ad” by WordPress? If so, can you suggest some other blogging software that will allow me to post this link, preferable using the same theme?

Only staff can tell you whether that would be allowed, so you might want to contact them tomorrow. Tuesday, if they’re closed for Presidents Day, but I don’t know if that’s the case.

In your other thread you said,
I have been working on this for 2 hours! All I’m trying to do is add a banner ad…

Hi Owen.
I’m familiar with the Gawker Artists program. Staff will need to make the call on that; it’s ad exposure for artists, but it is not paid. It’d donated by Gawker.
What you could do instead to support the artists is simply put a text widget in the sidebar, add the image of your choice with “Gawker Artists” on it, and link the image to the site.
