How to add a book list to sidebar

My Typepad blog makes it very easy to list recommended books with photos of the covers. How do I do it on wordpress?

You can do this by using a text widget. Basically you place small thumbnail sized linked images of the book covers in your sidebar inside a text widget.

You can’t add anything like an Amazon widget, because affiliate links are out of the question. You can do a simple, noncommercial “I like these books right now” display by putting it in a text widget if you can get non-javascript code. You can, in a pinch, code it yourself with the book cover and a link perhaps to the author’s site.

Thanks, I’ll give these a try. I have no need to do the Amazon thing, because it doesn’t help anyway. But since my blogs are reading oriented, the covers make it more interesting.
