How to add a category in main page side bar?

  I need to add a new folder in the main home page so I can archive posts into certain categories. I want the folders to be visible and labelled and placed under the pages- ‘About’ and ‘contact’ how do I do this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  We have a categories widget that you can add to the sidebar:

  You can determine which pages of the site it appears on by using the widget visibility settings:
