how to add a column to a theme

    the theme I have is a one column, but I want widgets on the side. i have tried to find a two column theme which will look the same, colours wise, as the one I’ve got and let me change the header picture like i have done. i can’t find one though. am i going to have to design my own?

    Well you need to find a theme which has a sidebar support. I use Twenty Eleven and it can be modified extensively even with free WP account. give it a try before going on with your own theme.

    At WP.com you can’t design your own theme or import a theme or tweak the CSS of an existing theme (unless you have the Custom CSS upgrade). With the custom design upgrade you can take any two column theme and make it look how you want.
