how to add a link?
-
Sorry folks, I’ve done this before, but somehow I can’t find the “link” thingy when I’m composing a post, or it’s “greyed out”. If an adnim.is able to look at my dashboard and tell me why it’s greyed out, that would be wonderful. I thought it was that figure 8 on it’s side, but that’s the one I can’t click. Dumb!!!!!!!
thks,
NinaThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there. Volunteers answering support questions do not have backened access to blogs and cannot apply technical fixes.
Which browser and version of it are you using?
Have you trued these troubleshooting techniques?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Do you have another browser you can use?
Have you tried going up to the top right hand corner of the Admin side of your blog and clicked screen options there so you are in full accessibility mode? -
Thanks for the speedy response. I’ve always (7 mos) used Safari, but I’ll go try Firefox.

If you have done those things and not been successful you will have to file a support ticket and Staff, who are on holiday hours will get to you after the New Year. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

All right, I’m officially stupid today — which is the symbol for linking a URL? I hope it’s under “visual” and not “html”!
BTW, I did try to search this, but apparently no one else has ever had this problem:-) Neither did I before today.

In this illustration to icons are grayed out. The left hand one is the link icon. The right hand one is “break a link”. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-alignment/
BTW here’s the support documentation link so you can bookmark it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/

thx for the link to the support page. I have bookmarked it.
But my link (the 8 on it’s side) is greyed out just like in your illustration. So what do I do to fix that?
thx

Sorry but it looks like you will have to file a support ticket and wait for staff to get to you like I said above.

In the visual editor, the link button is always greyed out before you select some text for it. You write the word or phrase that you want as your link text, highlight it, then click the link button to add the URL.

Thanks panag. This must have changed because I know I’ve never done it like this before. Or maybe this old hippie just smoked too much dope:-)
Muchismas gracias
