How to add a plugin for a subdomain
-
Hi,
I am trying to add a plugin to our site, however I keep running into the problem that
Domain not using WordPress.com name servers:
. Previously we had used a CNAME pointing to reactivesummit.wordpress.com., but following this error we tried removing the CNAME in favor of adding the wordpress nameservers. This did not work either, and seems to be that I am forced into a CNAME (following this forum post). However if since it is a subdomain only and I must stick with the CNAME, then how can I get access to the plugin which I need….
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi scorpionbsmiter,
You’ll need to follow these instructions for mapping a subdomain to a Business plan site:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/#mapping-a-subdomain-to-a-business-plan-site
Name servers for the main domain don’t need to be updated, you only need to add three name server records for the subdomain — your domain registrar should be able to help with this change.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi,
Yes, as mentioned I did try using the nameserver, however it did not work and I figured it had to do with:
Note: You should NOT change your Name Server information if you wish to only map a subdomain.
Thoughts?

Hi Justin –
It’s probably best to get in touch with us via live chat. Head over to https://wordpress.com/help/contact/ to initiate a new chat. This will be the fastest way to resolve issues and contact us.
We’re happy to help you in the forums if you prefer, but it will probably take longer to reach a resolution.
Live chat support is part of your business plan upgrade.
To clarify, you tried to edit the name servers on the subdomain only when that message popped up?

Thanks, I have taken it to chat. They have simply stated to wait the full 72 hours for the NS.

Perfect :) Glad to hear you were able to get through there. I’m going to close this thread now.
