How to Add a sub-category under a site page

    Hello,

My website is pasthm.com. I have several site pages. One in particular is named Projects, in the past I added two sub categories under this one and maned them Model Railroading and the other Dollhouses. Now, I want to add another one under Projects called Models. I do not know how to do that. Please assist. In that sub-category if you will, I would like to add a video (mp4). Thank you!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

If you want to create a new page with “Projects” as the parent page, navigate to your admin page (pasthm.com/wp-admin) and go to Pages (on the lefthand sidebar) -> Add New

Add your new page, “Models.” Then on the right side, under Page Attributes, you will see a dropdown titled Parent. Set Parent to your “Projects” page.

Depending on your settings, you might also have to add the new page to your menu. Go to Appearance -> Menus to do this.

Lastly, if you want to add a video to the page and the video is uploaded on YouTube, you can simply paste the link directly into the page when you’re editing it. WordPress will take care of the rest. You can also upload the video via the Add Media button, but this may cause your page to load more slowly.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you Jenny. But for some reason I am still not able to add another category under”Projects”. I have tried what you suggested.

    Hi there –

Once you have created the “Models” page per the instructions above, you can add it to your main menu under “Projects” by going to your wp-admin page, then clicking on Appearance -> Menus in the left hand sidebar.

Add the new page to the menu by selecting it in Pages in the left hand pane, and then clicking Add to Menu. It will appear in the right hand Menu Structure pane. Drag and drop the “Models” item so that it is indented under the “Projects” item in the Menu Structure pane. Then click Save Menu.

Let me know if that helps. If you are unable to find any of the pages/panes mentioned above, I’m happy to provide screenshots.

    Jenny,

I took a step back and repeated your original instructions and then followed your recent steps, it worked out real well. Thank you so so very much. My problem was more of a mechanical one, whereby, I did not know how to drag the new page called Models under the Projects site page menu. It looks great. Is there a way to keep in contact with you as I further try to create the best website on the planet. LOL. Vinny

    Jenny,

Thank you. How do I contact you directly, if I should reach another roadblock?

    Hi Vincent –

I mainly use this account for testing things out, so there’s only one blog post on my site (click my username to access it) – you can leave a comment there if you’d like!

I’d also like to point out that there are a lot of people on this forum who know far more than me – creating a new topic here is always a good bet.

    Thanks!
