How to add a Testimonials panel in the Pique theme

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there, I’d like to use the Pique theme for my website. I have a free wordpress hosted site so I know I cannot edit any CSS but I’ve read the theme description thoroughly and it appears as though I should be able to add a testimonials panel without the need for CSS editing.

I have testimonials added to my website (my website currently uses the Dara theme) and I also have them embedded on a page. I’ve tried adding a panel in the Pique theme and just selecting the page with my testimonials embedded in it, but it does not show up formatted nicely in the same way as the site demo. The Pique demo uses a two-column grid but mine just shows up in a single-column list, even when I select grid view on the page.

I’ve also tried adding the url to my testimonial archive in the Testimonial section of the Pique theme customization screen (http://aafrias.wordpress.com/testimonial/) but that does not add a testimonial panel, either.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

and it appears as though I should be able to add a testimonials panel without the need for CSS editing.

That’s correct. CSS is unnecessary in order to include a testimonials panel on the front apge.

The site https://aafrias.wordpress.com/ has a testimonials panel on the front page. It is titled Reviews for The Heaven Corporation. The static page, with the testimonials template assigned to it, that corresponds to the panel is here: https://aafrias.wordpress.com/reviews-for-the-heaven-corporation/. Have you resolved the issue?

Note that the Testimonials Template section of the Pique theme guide says:

[The Testimonials] panel will show two testimonials, selected at random. When the page is refreshed, two different testimonials will display, allowing your customers to see a rotating display of your testimonials.

I actually just figured it out about 30 minutes ago after wrestling with it for hours. It turned out I needed to create a new page and select the Testimonial layout in the side menu, then assign that page to one of the theme’s panels. I kept trying to just embed my testimonials on the page by using the [testimonial] tag. I didn’t notice there was a layout option for testimonials in the page’s edit menu.

Thank you for the help! It looks exactly how I wanted it to now.
