Hi,
Not entirely sure I follow correctly, but 1st up if the other ‘website’ that you want to ‘link’ to is not your own, and it’s on ‘autoplay’ then, no there is nothing you can do.
Would need to know which one you are referring to as you give a link to one you ‘like’ but not the ‘one you want to use’.

ok I see, well I am on a design team as of now and they require me to have this video on my side bar –
The code for the current video is:
<iframe width=”210″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/9l3QqWwGtHI” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>
Is it doable? :)

That is where you kind of ‘lost me’ a little, cause you say both that you want the video url in the sidebar and then you say the video itself….?
“….. and I want the video to show when the site is opened but you know play only when pressed like….”

ok sorry for the confusion what I want it to look like basically is like this – heck out this website – http://www.foldedpaperprintedpixels.com/ see the little pink video on the right ?

I’ve just tried it out, it didn’t work though.. the video is in a sidebar of a page of mine, it won’t play though and just links to youtube generally… I noticed in the widget I made for it, once saved changed the &’s to amp; etc… may be my browser as I followed these wordpress instructions to specify size etc.
I’ll mark this for ‘modlook’ and perhaps a staff member will be able to sort it out for you.

Yes, I managed to get a little video like that in my sidebar and used the youtube link you gave… it just is not playing and only connects to youtube.com I followed wp.com’s instructions, but I must be missing something myself. (Never done it before..)
I’m sure a staff member will work it out :)

<iframe width=”210″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/9l3QqWwGtHI” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>
Is it doable? :)Nope. You need to follow the instructions:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#adding-to-your-sidebarfooter -
Yes… all that mucking around, then I realised wordpress is pretty good like that; most sidebar stuff is autosized.
So just go to Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets
Then grab a Text Widget > Place it where you’d like it > Then it’s as easy as inserting a video in a post so yours is be [youtube= https://youtu.be/9l3QqWwGtHI%5D << I just put a space in after = in case it doesn’t like it here in forums. Give it a title if you want, or leave it blank.
Hope it works out for you, just let me know.

In other words, you need the video URL:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l3QqWwGtHIand copy & paste this code into a widget text:
[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l3QqWwGtHI] -
wow not sure what happened to that youtube link… but yes: just enter your youtube video in the widget text box like you do in a post.
-
Sorry.
And copy & paste this code into a widget text:[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l3QqWwGtHI]
