How to add a white box behind main text content

  Alright so I know this is a simple question but the previous questions like this didn’t seem to help.

  I want a patterned background for my blog with a white box under the text (the main content part) to make my text more readable. Here is my blog currently: http://musingsofateenageintrovert.wordpress.com/

  You can see that the pattern overwhelms the text. Does anyone know how to make the space behind my text white?
