How to add authors to my wordpress blog?

I am a long time user of WordPress and Blogger but only on blogger have I found the multiple authors feature. I was told you could get it here. True? If so, tell me how, please!

You may also wish to consider what role you wish to give any additional users to your blog

User -> Add user means you are letting someone into the admin of your blog. They can contribute to the blog. How much they can do depends on what role you give them but they still get in.
Privacy -> Add User means all they can do is see the blog. They cannot get into admin, they can just read the blog.
There is no ‘password’. The blog is linked to a login so a person you have added will see the blog as normal and anyone else will be prompted for a password.
