How to add background behind background?
-
Currently, I have the plain white background and have tried to add a different color behind the white like it is on this blog: http://citygirlbites.com/ How do I do that? I have purchased the custom upgrade package.
Thanks, Julia

Hi there,
To change your site’s background colors, you’ll need to log in to your Dashboard and then go to Appearance >> Customize >> Colors. The background is that very first circle (currently it’s set to white). Click on it, and you can change it the whichever color suits you!

Um, I want a background BEHIND the background–which is white– the way it’s displayed on the link I provided, not just change the color from current background from white to something else. Did you not check out the link I provided?

Yes I did indeed look at the link which you provided. The area which you were speaking about (which shows up as a kind of light grey on my screen), is actually that person’s background. The white sections are her text backgrounds.
On your site you have a white text background and a white background. The setting which I directed you to should change the background, not the text background.

I did exactly what you described in your first reply and that’s what I’ve been doing all along. When I change the first circle from white to, let’s say grey, it looks like the background behind the background becomes grey the way it is on the blog link I sent you. But when I click “save” and then reload my site, it shows that the entire site–all of it, not just the sides–has turned grey. What gives?
Thanks.

Hi Julia,
I’m sorry to hear that it wasn’t working via the selector like it should! We generally try not to make changes to your site since we don’t want to do anything to it that would make it look how you wouldn’t want it to, so I had just verified that it make your site look how you described it in the preview.
What I’ve done is go ahead and enter in the full CSS code which makes your site look as you described and have verified that it is looking correct online. I’ve also reached out to the folks who work with the customizer in hopes that we can track down whatever bug is causing the published version to not look like the preview.
I guessed on the shade of grey which you might want. If it’s not quite right, you can change the shade by going in your dashboard to Appearance >> Customizer >> CSS and changing the line which looks like this:
body { background-color: #777777 !important; }You’ll need to change the “777777” to some other number. You can find a color-picking tool right here:
