How to add bullet points to the side bar

  I’d like to add bullet points at the front of each listing to my blog archive widget on the right hand side of my page. Is this possible or is it strictly a template thing? I should note, I do not have access to the CSS and I assume entering < LI > HTML code would just make a mess of things.

  No you cannot access the code and edit the blog archive widget. The only changes you can make are by means of purchasing a CSS upgrade and doing the work yourself. However, you can create a text widget and style it the way you want without purchasing the upgrade and the down side of that is that you will have to manually edit it as it will not automatically update. Alternatively, you can change to a theme that displays archives in the way you want in your sidebar, or you can create a static page and use the archives shortcode.

  You can use the archives shortcode in a text widget in the sidebar, this is far more customisable.

  Thank you to lh as well! I’ve try out the code you suggested in a text widget, but the bullet points aren’t showing up correctly. What I’m looking for is:

  (bullet point) Title of post
  (bullet point) Title of post
  (bullet point) Title of post

  This is the code I currently have (minus the spaces):

  [ archives type= postbypost limit= 3 format= html before= li ]

  The last part “before” seems to be the one not working. Advice?

  I have the widget in question at the end on the right hand side of my page.

  I’m trying to avoid going that route, TT, as I’d have to insert and update the listings manually, right? According the the page lh provided (link below) you’re suppose to be able to use the li code with the shortcode, but it’s not working for me yet.

  “postbypost” is listing the titles, “limit=3” is limiting them to 3, but “before=li” is only inserting the text “li” in front of the listings without a space.
