How to add category buttons at the top of my blog

I have tried searching the forums for an answer and I can’t quite figure out how to do this. I want each of my categories to have a separate button you can click, and I want them to be at the top of my blog page. Right now I have something similar, with my “pages” listed at the top of my blog. I want my categories to be formatted in a similar manner as the pages.
So far I have tried linking my categories to my pages. I used this code in the title of the pages. Category Name
It seems to work except that when I click on the page, it brings me to my category archives. This is fine except the word “”Archives” appears in large red print at the top of my list of posts. I don’t want the word Archives to show.
Is there any way to fix this? Sorry if this doesn’t make any sense!

There is only one dynamic page in a blog and we cannot post to more that one page. However, we can create the appearance that we have done that by setting up a custom menu and displaying Categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation menu. You didn’t mention if you can edit html, because if you can, you can edit the header.php file within the theme directory to add content to the top of the page
