How to add code snippet?

Add topic to favorites
With reference to the below link i tried to add a code snippet .

http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/posting-source-code/

but still i am unable to get the desired output. Just i am getting the plain text.. Not in the code table format. Do i need to upgrade. Or is there any options to create code snippet.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What kind of code are you trying to post? Is it HTML, CSS, php or?

it just shows as plain text which is too difficult to read and looks awkward

Did you use the syntax they recommended?

I ask because I was having success with CSS, but not HTML. Haven’t retried since I found that usage. Will go do now.

yeah.. i used the same syntax. Its just showing as text. I need a snippet kind of thing.. like a table..
