How to add 'contact me' button or widget

  I would like to add a contact me button that would display my email address for anyone wanting to contact me directly. I can only find the ‘contact info’ widget, but that is not what I am looking for. I’d like to have this button visible on my site, preferable on the top bar next to the ‘home’ and ‘about’ tabs. How can I do this?
