How to add CSS to redesign header of Hemingway rewritten

  • Unknown's avatar

    I need some help with Hemingway Rewritten. I found code to remove the black box around the site title and tagline, but would like to move the site title and tagline to the bottom left of the header. Can someone write some code to move that to the bottom left corner?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

    We’ll be happy to help you with this. As you may be aware, CSS needs to be very specific, so we’ll need to understand exactly where in the bottom left of the header you want the site title and tagline to be. Could you share a screenshot of your site and annotate it with pointers so we know exactly where you want them?

    Here’s a screenshot for your reference. You can download it and annotate and then upload it in your reply.

    Thanks!

    Good morning,

    Thanks for your reply!

    Here is the screenshot. Will there be a way to go into the code and adjust the padding to get these words exactly where I want them? If not, that’s fine. If you can get it close to this screenshot, it will be very close.

    Thanks, that helps! CSS customizations of this nature are typically outside the scope of support we can provide, but I can (as a one-time courtesy) get you pointed in the right direction!

    First, you would need to change the text alignment of the “site branding” section of the header from center to left by adding this CSS:

    .site-branding-wrapper {
        text-align: left;
    }

    It’s going to be squished up to the left edge, so you’ll need to target the site branding padding which is the CSS you will need to experiment with – just add this (the default) to your Additional CSS and start changing that em value to increase/decrease the padding:

    .site-branding {
        padding: 0.9em;
    }

    You can read more about the different CSS options for padding here if you want to target the top/bottom/left/right values individually: https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_padding.asp

    I hope that helps you get started!

    Thank you so much! That does get me started. I think I will be able to get it now.
