How to add custom domain to WordPress?

  What is the correct procedure to add custom domain bought from Godaddy to WordPress?

  What I have tried
  In Godaddy DNS settings, I forwarded the domain to my blog. When I type the custom domain it will redirect to my blog. But later it will show .wordpress.com in the URL.

  Can I add my WordPress blog to Google AdSense if I’m using a free WordPress plan but owns a custom domain?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
