How to add email button

WordPress tells you there is no function to add email button stating security reasons and tells you to use contact form. For a user like me, contact from is a turn off.

You CAN CREATE EMAIL BUTTON ON YOUR PAGES:
    1. in your text editor type text e.g. ’email me’.
    2. Highlight it and click link button
3.inthe url box enter ‘mailto:(email visible only to moderators and staff)’ i.e. your emailaddress
4.tick open link in new window

this will invoke email program on your PC. It works on MAc. Will it work for users who use only hotmail etc, I cannot tell. I therefore provide the email link function and a form thus hopefully meeting the needs of various users. Good Luck!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The vast and overwhelming majority of all so-called information on the internet is spam. Over 80% of all so-called comments submitted to .wordpress.com blogs every day are spam. The worst of all spam containing malware and viruses is not sent to us. It’s removed as it could bring down many blogs if opened.

I strongly advise against posting an email address that spammers email harvesting bots can harvest so the spammers can sell it to others. I suggest you use the secure contact form provided by WordPress to prevent that from happening. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

  • We have never said that it’s a security risk, but posting an email address like that will leave it open to spam harvesters, which I suppose could be a security risk if you open one of those virus spam emails.

Also, you can find what was suggested by dementiainteriors (along with reasons not to do it) at http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/email-links/
