How to add featured images to Twenty Ten theme

I have a new wordpress.com blog and I’ve selected the Twenty Ten theme.
When I post my featured images don’t show up in the category page. There is only the headline for the post there. I’d prefer to display an image under or next to the headline. Can anyone help please?

Each theme may or may not have featured image support or may use featured images in different ways. The Twenty Ten theme is designed to use featured images as custom header images for posts, but it doesn’t have a featured image option for category pages.
There is one exception and that is if you create a post with a gallery in it. You can see an example by going to http://twentytendemo.wordpress.com/category/uncategorized/ and scrolling down until you see the post titled “Simple gallery test.”
