How to add Follow Me on Twitter graphic and link

  How can I display a Follow Me on Twitter graphic? Following the instructions in step two on the attached, I created a URL and pasted it into the Text Widget. Problem is I see the code and the graphic on the public page. Am I using the wrong widget? http://mashable.com/2012/10/08/twitter-wordpress-integration/
