How to Add footer- No footer tab under themes

Ive been getting frustrated trying to figure out how to add a copyright footer at the bottom of my pages. When I go to dashboard under Appereance/Themes I DO NOT have a tab for footer. I checked under widgets and its not there either. What is the best way for me to add a footer? Thanks

We cannot access and edit themes or templates at wordpress.com. What you can do is place the copyright notice in a text widget and display it in your sidebar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/
The other alternative is to purchase an annually renewable CSS editing upgradw. But do note that you are not allowed to remove or hide the display of the theme designer link or the hosted by wordpress.com link. To do so is a breach of the Terms of Service.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.
