How To Add Header/Banner With Quentin Theme

Hello everyone,
I’m very new to the site, having moved from Blogger due to difficulties with the layout changing after I hit publish. WordPress, as a whole seems a much better site but there’s one problem – I’ve checked every part of my Dashboard & I can’t figure out how to add a header/banner!
It’s an image a friend made for me & it’s on my computer. I’m using the Quentin Theme if that helps.

We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM. Adding a header is not possible unless you choose to purchase a CSS editing upgrade. If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to add a header and make appearance changs but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.
Since there is no official support for the CSS upgrade, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

Thank you so much for the speedy response but ARGH I am so! disappointed. I loved the banner I had & I don’t like having the same style header as everyone else with my theme.
Cheeky q I know but which sites can you use your own header at other than Blogger that are as simple to use as WordPress? If nowhere else really compares I’ll stay here but I’d rather find out before I upload all of my articles on this site.

The bottom line here is we cannot help you here. You are posting to the wrong forum because you did take the time to not read the sticky post at the head of this forum.
As you are not asking about a free blog being free hosted by wordpress.com, but are asking about a blog hosted elsewhere you have to post to this forum > http://wordpress.org/support/
When you stop posting here that will free us Volunteers up to be able to devote our time to answering the questions of those who do have wordpress.com blogs that they need support for.

Seeing as it was a followup question for one that did deserve to be in this forum please don’t make out that I’m creating some sort of spam to take up other people’s time.
If the sticky you’re referring to is the 8 Things You Should Know… thread then I have read it & it did not say anything about asking for blog comparisons to see if you’re in the right place at wordpress.org. I do have a blog here & I did need help with it so thank you for that, but please don’t assume things before you know them ;~)

Answer: You can do this on a wordpress.org install for self hosting as you have total control of your template.
