how to add ‘hints’ to html in posts to give translation of word
-
Hey there: I have started a blog based on learning Irish and I’d like to be able to supply the translation of an Irish word by the visitor hovering the mouse over the underlined (translated word). This can be seen on any article on Beo.ie.
Is there a way to do this? I did try [hint][/hint] etc. but that didn’t work.
Will be so grateful for any help. Cheers, Sinéad
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

do you mean doing something like when you hover the word “cruinn” a tooltip would appear with the word “exact”?
If so, this is how you do it:
<a href="#" title="exact">cruinn</a>Also, please link to your blog when posting in these forums. Sometimes, the answer we give may not apply if the blog is not a wordpress.com hosted one.

Hi again. And thank you!
http://www.craiceann.wordpress.comI tried what you suggested and it works except that when I hover my mouse over it, it is only highlighted and the English isn’t coming up!
What ya reckon I did wrong?

No problem. And if you want it to make it look even cooler, try this:
<a style="cursor: help;" title="exact">cruinn</a>Notice that I remove the “href” property. Since you’re not linking to a page, you don’t need it.
