How to add image slider to oxygen theme?

I have the oxygen theme and want to create an image slider just like the example but I haven’t a clue how to do this despite reading around the site.
At the moment I have a photo in my header but I want an image slider, can someone please give me a step to step guide please?

Here are the instructions from the Oxygen theme page:
The Showcase Page template offers a featured slider for up to six Sticky Posts that have a Featured Image at least 750 pixels wide. Keep in mind: if you mark a post as Sticky but the featured image is less than 750 pixels wide, then it won’t display in the slider and will still disappear from the river of posts.
Make sure your posts have featured images that are the right size and set the posts as sticky too and you should be up and running in no time.

slowly getting the hang of it now and understanding how it works.
What I would like though, is a section of text beneath the featured slider about me. Is this possible?
At the moment, it just has a grey box for ‘Recent Articles’ which I do want to REMOVE completely and just write some stuff about me.
