How to add image to sidebar?
-
This is how you used to be able to add images to your sidebar:
How do you do it now? I don’t see a way to upload images without them appearing in a post. And I don’t see a way to get a link to a thumbnail of the image.
Thanks.

There might be a more elegant way but for now I’m going to the Media Library, clicking Show on the image, and grabbing the URL from there. Then you can put it in the text widget. You may need to change the size and if you know code, you can do it that way. If you don’t know code, then put it in a post (a draft, never publish this one) as a thumbnail or whatever you want and tweak it until it’s right. Once the whole thing looks the way the widget should, click the Code editor to copy the code. Put that in the widget.

Thanks raincoaster, that helps me too. After the change I couldn’t get it to work either. I don’t like how it’s more difficult to put an image in my widgets now:(

Thanks raincoaster. I have a follow-up. What I used to be able to do in the old version of wordpress was this:

That is, I used to include thumbnails in my text widgets, which when clicked upon, expanded to a full-sized image. Is there a way to do this on the new version of wordpress? I can’t seem to find thumbnail links to the images in my media library. Do they not exist anymore?

Nevermind, I figured it out. Upload the picture as a thumbnail to the draft post, copy the html code, and paste it into the text widget. Presto!
