how to add images to old style slideshows?

Can’t add new images to existing wordpress slideshow e g. gallery type=slldeshow mechanism. Drag and drop inserts image into page as stand alone image. Where is control add it to slide show? IIf I add image number in text mode the wrong image shows up in the slide show. checked library and edited image to unique number but same wrong image shows up in slide show, even after Ichange the number in the text edit window.
Read browser instructions but the controls mentioned aren’t visable. -

If I create a new gallery I see the old Add to Gallery button I need. But its gone when I upload anything. Read browser instructions but the controls mentioned aren’t visible. This is not cool.

OK, I fell for it. You have to click on any image in the slideshow gallery to get the pencil & delete icons. Then you click on the pencil icon which leads you to a way to add to the gallery, as before. I DID review the slideshow instructions and they still refer to the OLD way. My feedback is this: 1) I didn’t get any heads-up email or other notice changes were coming. 2) The support pages don’t get into specifics about editing slideshows, they just point out how much easier the new way is going to be. 3) fair enough, but the slideshow instructions need to be updated in real-time.
I believe in RTFM before crying for help but you could avoid a lot of user anxiety by letting us know in advance what/how about changes.
