how to add links to specific areas within an image?

I want to know if it is possible to insert clickable links for specific areas within a posted image. For example, imagine a single posted image of three people attending an event. Each person had written a short perspective piece on that piece. My question is, can I make a link to each person’s contribution by inserting a link on each person’s head?

Yes you can, with image maps. You can read about the HTML code involved over on W3Schools. Or perhaps try one of the automatic code generators such as this one that turned up tops in a quick search.

Yes! Yes, you can do image maps with Photoshop as well. But the site halluke suggested works a charm—very nice.
