how to add meta tags with a free WordPress account

Hi!
Is it possible to add meta tags with a free WordPress account? I’ve allready tried to copy/paste code in text editor, but non is working.I hope someone can help me, because after two days of trying and searching for an answer, I think of giving up meta tags…

Regardless of upgrades WordPress.COM bloggers cannot access any metadata and we don’t need to. So many have abused the metatags that since 2009 Google has not considered them to be required at all. See here https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2014/05/05/no-metadata-required-for-good-seo/

Note that it can take weeks for search engines to index content in a new blog and/or to re-index content under a new URL.
