How to add my WordPress follow me link to my eBook

  I want to add a “follow me/mail list” link in the back of my eBook. Can I just follow the advice here http://en.support.wordpress.com/follow-button/ and paste (embed) the link in the back of my ebook? I use Scrivener and it seems to generate the mobi files (for Amazon) that retain working links.
  Or, am I mistaken in that the “follow me” button/link for my web site on wordpress.com doesn’t really generate a usable mailing list and I should use something like mailchimp instead?
