How to add non-blog extra pages?

I have a online WP blog. That works fine. Thank you!

What I want to do is add some non-blog, no user comments, child pages.

For example, if I have a blog about music, I want to add a page called “my mp3s”. When the user clicks
on that, they get a list of links with descriptions of the music. But I don’t want user comments or anything
    else. Just a static webpage.

Everything I’ve tried allows user comments and I don’t want that. What am I not understanding?

    Thank you.

First how about a link to your WordPress.COM blog, starting with http:// That way we can know if what we suggest is even relevant for you.

If you are blogging on WordPress.com, please link your username to your blog. This is explained in the sticky “8 Things” at the top of this forum.

Thanks justjennifer, for responding to my post, but I asked a general question. I don’t see what my blog has to do with anything.

I have a free, online, wordpress blog. I wanted to know how to add additional pages that are NOT blog-related: no user comments, no archives, etc. Just text, links, and maybe pictures.

This is what any musician, photographer, or artist might do. I would have thought it was a very simple newbie question.

    Thank you.

There are differences in the software used here at wordpress.COM and on self-hosted blogs using the software downloaded from wordpress.ORG. There are a lot of people that end up here that should be asking over at wordpress.ORG’s forums and if we don’t first make sure you are in the right forum, then we may end up giving you the wrong answer and wasting your time and ours. If people do not give us a link to their blog, we ask first to make sure they are in the right forum.

To make static pages, simply go to write > pages in your dashboard and create and publish them.

I would suggest that to help us out here in the forums that you link your username to your wordpress.COM blog by going into your profile and putting it into the “website” field. That way we won’t have to go through this again.

As for no comments, when you create or manage a page (or a post) you scroll down to Advanced Options and deactivate “Allow Comments” and “Allow Pings”.
