  • Hi there – You can add pictures to any of your posts or pages by editing the post or page and adding images in this way: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/

However, I think what you might want to do is to create a “static” homepage, which means that the same information always shows on your homepage, rather than all of your posts as is typical with blogs. Is that what you’re trying to do? If so, please read these instructions on how to set up a “static” front page:
    Front Page

You’d still add images to that page in the same way, by editing that page and using the Add Media button.

Let me know if you have further questions!

    Hello Eurolla,

Thank you already for your help.

The links that you cave me didn’t really help the whit the problem that I have.

I think we are a little bit lost in translation (because English is not my first language) and I wasn’t able to point my point well enough last time. But now I know more.

If I go to my pages and choose “Mallisto” and edit page. Whit the edit page I whant to chance the template of the page to portfolio page. after I have done that how can I down load the pictures in a way that I can see them on the page which is portfolio? and how about slideshow or full width.

    Thank you ;)

btw. the dashboard that you have on your video is different from mine. Why is that and is it a problem?

  • Hi there – I understand, thanks for the additional detail!

There are a number of steps to setting up a Portfolio page in your theme. Can you please go here and try to follow these steps:
    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/photographer/support/#Using_the_Portfolio_Page_Template

If you get stuck at any point, reply and let me know which step you’re having trouble with, and I’ll help you out. :)

the dashboard that you have on your video is different from mine. Why is that and is it a problem?

Probably not; there are a number of different ways the Dashboard can be displayed, but if you’re having trouble finding a specific feature mentioned in any of the instructions, let me know. It’s possible you’ve accidentally hidden it from your view, which we can fix. :)

    Hello again Eurella,

I’m following the steps from the link that you send me. I think I’m quite close to do what I want to but not quite there still.

I think I follow all these steps right:
    Create a Post
    Add your Title and Content
Set a Featured Image for the Post
Add a Category to the Post (e.g. Landscapes)
    Publish the Post
    Repeat process as necessary

So I will go to the post and create post and make the category to be “test test” which has a featured image. The featured image is a appearing to the page that I’m using so that is working I just still can’t add any pictures to the actual portfolio page. In the link it says “Add your Title and Content” must likely content includes pictures… but where do I add them?

Maybe I just tell you what I have so you will get a picture that I’m I doing things in a right way.

So I have a page “mallisivu” with template portfolio page. And I have a post whit the same gategory as I have set from my theme options for the portfolio page. So what doesn’t match.

on my post I have been trying to add pictures from the add media but they don’t appear in to the site from some reason?

thank you again for your help ;)

  • Hi there – Yep, you’ve done everything correctly and that portfolio page is showing your one post’s featured image as expected: http://carabellajewellery.wordpress.com/testisivu/

To add additional images, you actually need to publish additional posts. Make sure each of those posts (1) has a featured image; and (2) is in the ‘testi testi’ category.

The Portfolio page isn’t a page you edit directly. Rather, it pulls posts with featured images from a specified category. Each image then links your readers to that post, where they’ll see any additional images or content in the post itself. Does that make more sense?
