How to add project type in menu structure | Portfolio theme

    Hy,

I try to use the illustatr theme.
Please, can you to explain me how to add project type in menu structure?
(I found how to put Categories -from Post- in meniu strucure, but I can’t figure out how to do with Project Type -from Portfolio)

I want to apear like here:
Portfolio > App Desing (Project Type), Corporate Identity(Project Type), etc.

  • What is your blog’s URL, please?

The menu options displayed in that image does not correspond with the menu options available in the dashboard for WordPress.com blogs.

If you have a self-hosted blog you must please post in the WordPress.ORG support forum as we won’t be able to help you here: http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t already have a username on that forum, click the register button in the upper right corner so you can post in that forum.

  • I see you started another thread two hours later and included this URL: http://anydesignme.wordpress.com/

Please do not create multiple threads on the same issue in future.

That image you supplied does not apply to WordPress.com blogs. I’m starting a new thread to alert staff to the fact that they have incorrect screen shots in the theme support doc. Here is an image for the menu setup page for your theme (I activate Illustratr on my test blog and took a screen shot from the menu page): http://snag.gy/mokat.jpg

As you can see, the option for both project types and project tags are there. You can also group them under a Portfolio tab by following the instructions under “Create static parent tabs” in the support doc here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

    Also see: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

Please let me know if you need more help with this.

  • Me again :)

I checked again and the image isn’t incorrect. It just shows the completed menu for the demo page. Follow the instructions in the support doc and you should be able to set this up.

Note you’ll first have to create the project types before they will be available to add to the menu.

For the Portfolio parent tab to show all your projects like on the demo site, add a link to the custom menu and use this URL: http://anydesignme.wordpress.com/portfolio/ You can then group your project types under that item by dragging them below it and to the right so they’re indented.

Thanks a lot for your answer! It looks very simple from your print screen.

Now I observe that it is difficult for me to do that because it seems that it’s missing me some menu buttons:

Do you know what I should do to appear me all meniu?

  • Go to Portfolio ->All Projects and make sure you have assigned a project type to each project. If you don’t see any projects there it means you haven’t created any yet. Click Add New to create new projects. (The Portfolio tab on your menu is a page, not a project.) The option will be there once there are projects and project types assigned to the projects. Same with Project tags.

Likewise you don’t see the Post and Format options because you haven’t created any blog posts, but if you’re not going to create regular posts on your site you don’t have to worry about that.

Yes, “Portfolio” is a page, but all inside of it is a project, and all projects have project types.

  • This could be a browser issue. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies and see if the option appears then.

If that also doesn’t help, let me know and I’ll tag this for staff.

It dosn’t work. Please, can you tag this for staff?
Thanks a lot for your support!

Sandymcfadden resolved the problem: In the top right corner of the menu screen there is a button – Screen Options – there I checked Project Type.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Ah, okay. I didn’t even think to check there. Glad you got it figured out.
