How to add sections to main page

I’ trying to configure Sela theme on my blog (estrinonrichesti.wordpress.com) and I’m trying to make it look like this: http://emilycontois.com
The question is: how can I add sections like “spotlight on”, “zester pieces” and “online exhibit” that you can see on http://emilycontois.com?
    Are these pages?
    Thank you.

They are widgets, not pages. Each title corresponds to the title given to one of the three “Front Page Sidebar” widget areas. Don’t ask me why WP confusingly calls these “sidebars.” They are widget columns which display on a page assigned to the front page template. The Sela theme support page says,

Three front-page widget areas, displayed side-by-side in columns. This is where you can get creative and use any of the available widgets to feature products or services, or showcase different parts of your website. On the theme demo this section is populated with text widgets, one in each front-page widget area.

What this doesn’t tell you is that any links in these widgets must be written into the code. The following support page may be helpful: Text Widget Links. It provides simple methods of creating text and image links in a post or page editor. Links created in a post editor can simply be copied and pasted into a text widget.

    Thanks for the advice.
I had the suspect that they were widgets, in fact I figured out the whole thing, finally.
They should stop to call them “sidebars”.

    You’re welcome. I agree.
