How to add tags; categorize?

How does one add tags to posts? I use my wordpress site as a blog. It also says its “uncategorized,” is this automatically done or is there a way to place my site in a particular category?

Tags and categories are easy to add once you’re inside of a post. First, go to the post you want to add/edit categories and post to. In the main menu on the left, click “Posts” and a list of all your posts will appear. Hover over the post you want to edit, and click on the “Edit” link.
Once inside the post, scroll a bit down and keep an eye on the options to the right. You’ll see a section titled “Categorized”. Here your post is checked with the default category of “Uncategorized”. To make a new category, simply click on the link “+Add New Category” and name it.
To add a tag, scroll down even further until you come to the section called “Tags”. Put in whatever tagname you want in the blank field and push the “Add” button. Now your post has a tag. You can add multiple tags, and remove them as you wish.

You’re right about “Uncategorized” category being automatically done. However, if you want to change this, in the main menu on the left, click:
Settings > Writing
There’s an option called “Default Post Category”. Choose whatever you want the Default Post Category to be here. This way, you can make sure you’ll never have a post automatically being categorized as “Uncategorized”.
