How to align an image on the left of a series of paragraphs?
-
Problem with image alignment. Your instructions show how to align an image with a single paragraph. I need to put the image on the left of a series of short paragraphs. Each paragraph has a heading. Sometimes I think I am winning, then it reverts to being on the left of the first heading only. Nearly all the space to the right of the image is blank.
This is the second post where I have battled with this problem. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there! It appears as if your text is wrapping properly around the right-side of your left-aligned images now. I am seeing that this is working well on several of my browsers.
However, if you are still experiencing the issue, can you please send a screenshot that will depict the problem for me? You can upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image. Let me know when you’ve done that and I’ll take a look.
The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:
Thanks so much! Your site is looking great, incidentally. :)

Thanks, Robyn. I will get back to you if I have the same trouble with my post tomorrow.
I am glad you like the look of my site at this stage.
I would like to modify the theme in one small detail. I have now settled on a “blue” palette. The very top of the theme “container” is decorated with pink baubles, which jar a bit. In the code there is a thumbnail of this image, which is repeated four times.
Can this “container”image be changed to tones of blue?
Thanks. -
The trouble persists.
I have uploaded screen shots of an edit and a preview to my media library.
If I put the cursor at the beginning of the paragraph, the photo appears on the left of the paragraph. I don’t like the result because (a) the photo is not as near the top of the page as it could be where it will appear on the first screen; (b) the paragraph is short, and I would like it pushed down.
So I put the cursor at the beginning of the title, but my formatting intention then fails completely.
Actually, I think I had it OK, then I decided to make the photo larger with a custom format with width 300 pixels, and it wouldn’t do a side by side format. When I edited again it reverted to the 225 pixel standard width as you see.
I have another post where I really want to put one left-formatted narrow image against about four short paragraphs, each with a title line. I can do screen shots of that, now I have a little experience on how to do it. -
Hello again!
To rid yourself of the pink-hued bubbles at the top of your page, you make adjust your CSS.
- Click Appearance → Customize in your Dashboard.
- Click CSS in the right-hand menu.
- In your CSS Revisions box, paste the following below all the rest of the CSS you’ve added:
.site-container {
background: none;
} - Save your chages.
Bye-bye bubbles! :)
Regarding your image/justification/wrapping issues:
I made an adjustment to your unpublished draft, so you could see exactly what I did. If you like it, you can create your next Post accordingly.
Notice I added your header text first, then inserted the image, the pasted your text. In that order.
You can certainly revert back to the way you want it, if you don’t like the adjustment. Or, let me know how I can help with further changes.
Thanks so much!

First, thanks for getting rid of the pink bubbles!
Inserting images
It turns out that this theme becomes quirky if an image is placed next to a heading. What it does depends on the length of the heading and the width of the image, and the placement of the image (left or none). And that is just on a big screen!
I had been in the habit of putting the cursor at the end of the first heading, then clicking “Add media”. That worked because my images were all exactly 640 pixels wide, occupying the whole available width.
For left-placed images to go next to short paragraphs with headings, I have done a work-around in this post:
http://climatebysurly.com/2011/11/08/3-year-trends-to-october-2011/
I turned all my minor headings into one-sentence paragraphs, and used bold to make them look like headings. That works.
There is one glitch I can’t explain or fix. One of the sentences in bold (well clear of the image concerned) has reverted to the smaller font that I got rid of in customizing the theme. My real name on my posts?
In your example of editing my “April” post, something came up that I really need to understand – soon!
In the “Preview”, the line “posted in…” ended with “by…” citing my real name. That worries me. I didn’t know it could happen. Up to now, my posts have had no “by” line at all.
It is something to do with a subscription I have just taken out to “Google+”.
I found at the bottom of the post edit screen a checked box: “Associate my Google+ information with this post”. I unchecked it, and I found that the post preview now said “by surlybond”. Finally, I posted the article to the blog, and it appeared without any “by” line at all.
Can you explain this please? I am not at all sure what benefits and exposures result from a “Google+” account, except that it allowed me to register my blog with Google. I have no interest in “social” activities on the net.
I gather I must have “opted in” in some way to have that “Google+” check box on my post edit form. I don’t want any risk of my real name being published. -
I have found the reference to Google+ profile on “Sharing Settings” on my Dashboard.
I disconnected it.
I also found http://en.support.wordpress.com/google-plus-profile/I had not realised that any benefits to web visibility of a Google+ account would come at the cost of my anonymity.

Hi there,
Yes, the idea behind publicizing to Google + is to connect your WordPress.com site and your Google + profile. Here is some more information about Google + and its integration with WordPress.com, if you’re interested:
Your workaround looks terrific. Nicely done.
There is one glitch I can’t explain or fix. One of the sentences in bold (well clear of the image concerned) has reverted to the smaller font that I got rid of in customizing the theme.
I made an adjustment to your HTML code. It appears as if, due to many formatting changes, some older code was left behind and that interfered with that header text. If you are going to make many custom adjustments to the attributes of your text, I highly recommend looking into learning a bit of HTML so you’re able to click on the Text tab in your Post Editor, to see if there are any errors. You are getting so comfortable with managing your site, I think you’d pick up the HTML rather quickly, and might enjoy the freedom it’ll give you to play with layout.
Programs like this are great:

Thanks very much!
