How to align East Asian texts vertically for

  I have no knowledge of CSS, and would like to align Japanese texts vertically like this webpage https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/444684/OpenWebDemos/css3writingModes/japanese-upright.html .

  Are there anyone with knowledge or experience of CSS for Japanese or Chinese vertical texts? Can you post your CSS here?

  Hi there,

  I don’t know how to read Kanji (Japanese font), but after I see the page on dropbox I found the css, maybe you can apply it to your site;

  @nizamilputra Thank you for the CSS you posted. It was successful when I entered the css in the Customizer mode, but when I opened my blog’s link, the texts were still horizontal.

  When I returned to the Customizer mode, the CSS was like this and somehow WordPress just deleted the content between the { } symbols.

  Besides, which theme was suitable for vertical writing? Are there any more steps should I do?

  I think you did the right way. But I don’t know why the css properties gone.
  I’ll try to add tag staff, hopefully they can give the answer.

  Hi there,

  The code you got from nizamilputra is correct, and you did everything right. The problem is the CSS selectors required to make this work are still experimental so they aren’t supported on WordPress.com. Experimental selectors sometimes change, or stop being accepted all together, so if/when that happened your site would break for no apparent reason–not fun.

  We do update our list of allowed CSS periodically, so if this particular code makes it out of the experimental stage, it may work on WordPress.com in the future.
